haven't eaten a bite since i got up this afternoon, and when i opened the cooler just a while back, this is what i found! godiva truffles = i love!

this is what i gave away as a newyear gift. handpicked the 2 bottles of french red, one of which - château coutet saint-emillion grand cru is my all time favourite. château la croix bellevue, the other, i read from a wine connoisseur magazine a while back, goes down well with men. assembled it with a pink peony and some organza wedding ribbons and it became a pseudo wine collection hamper.

woke up this afternoon to find that all the newyear deco are up. my mom is similar to me in that way - we both do things only at the last minute.
couldnt resist taking a few pictures of the lovely maroon furniture-ware in the living room, the newyear centre-piece on the dining table, and the gorgeous, blooming flowers out in the garden.

yesterday afternoon, jinn and i went shopping. well, not quite. we wanted to get junkfood tees: for jinn, a rolling stones or superman and for me, a red or green rainbow brite. i am still lusting over the rainbow brite "got greens?" tee, but i can never seem to be able to find it!

after which, we adjourned to spizza at killiney road where we were supposed to run an errand for jinn's sister. SURPRISE! jinn the sneaky mouse tricked me! all the girls were already there! i was so touched (though my lack of facial expression may have shown an otherwise nonchalant disregard. but then again, i am ice queen, afterall).. thank you all for being such lovelies! i lovelovelove the red scarf that some of them got me.

at may's place. because we had to catch the grand finale of the oh-so-exciting(!) 9pm tv series.

on the loof after. haven't been there in a while and i kinda missed it. i really like this place because it is just so chill. friendly chatter over a round of drinks beats the phuture dance floor anytime. loof is the new zouk.

dear fonia, please be extra nice to my pet mouse and take care of her when i'm not around! she occassionally needs some cheese, but more so, she needs TLC all the time!

the first day of the new year has came and gone.
reflecting on the past year, i've come to appreciate the many good things in my life that i seem to have taken for granted. for the sake of reminiscence, here are some highlights of 2005.

in 2005, i:
- spent 2 months alone in seoul in my very own swanky downtown apartment
- turned 21 in the company of my best girl friends
- became the owner of a red balenciaga le dix
- passed through rounds of interviews and got myself accepted into the noc programme
- got myself a 1 year attachment scheme with uob venture management in shanghai
- spent both xmas and new year's with the boy
- received my very first platinum american express supp card from mom&dad
- curled my hair and got myself bangs
- found the most beautiful pair of manolo blanik inspired black pumps
- had known jinling for 10 years
- was a pseudo sports journalist in the form of eusoff web reporting
- saw edison chen (ooh!), jay chou (aah!) and shawn yue (mmm!) all at one go
- scored my highest cap ever of 4.2
- fell in love with a goddess in the form of lindsay lohan
- travelled on the first tour de f4 (many more to come)
- visited shanghai twice with the boy; once in summer and the other in winter
- started creating, making and selling my very own accessories together with mom
- received my very first paycheck, of which i gave my grandparents a quarter of
- consciously tried my best to cut down on coffee (though rather unsuccessfully)
- clubbed in seoul and bangkok

it never fails to amaze me how quickly time seems to be passing us by.
before we know it, here we are again, the previous year has passed, and the new one has come.
2006 proves to bring along with it many new challenges, what with the boy going on exchange for half a year, and myself going away for a year. a year! it certainly does seem like an awfully long time to be apart from all my beloved girls and boy. for what its worth, this year apart will probably be the ultimate litmus test for the boy and i. the past 2+ years with him has certainly been filled with the most lovely memories, and i would never trade anything for it.

have been procrastinating the continuance of the tour de f4 @bangkok trip, but here it, day 3!

day 3 (thursday)

woke up bright and early for a trip to playground at sukhumvit. playground was featured in life! recently as a high-cost alternative living store. we were smitten by very nice clothes created by budding independant local designers and very quirky and eclectic furniture and decor. but take a glance at the price tag and you wonder if any of these glamour-stuff ever gets sold! we then had brunch at vanilla industry which was a little teahouse/cafe that is very baroque in setting. such a lovely afternoon we had there indulging in the wonderful company of the 4 of us and watching the world go by.

took a cab to pratunam market after for some afternoon shopping!

pi and i mucking around in the cab, the cab driver btw, was one helluva reckless driver. this reminds me - did i mention that bangkok cab drivers are just so .. ugh! for the following valid reasons as given:
(i) they have a freakin meter but they refuse to use it
(ii) they use the highway even when we specifically give instructions not to, making us incur an extra 40baht
(iii) they wanna charge 250baht for a <10 style="FONT-STYLE: italic">the boy and they had really nice and cheap shirts and stuff!

taking picts in the bead craft shop while pi was busy choosing her beads. the last pict i like very much, somehow find that there's a rather "girl, interrupted" feel to it. thanks to jinn for the nicenice pict! :)

us at pratunam area. very very dusty it is indeed. hahaha look at pi's "poor thing face"! omg jeann's face is hilarious!

after pi was done, all 4 of us squeezed into a tuktuk (our 1st tuktuk ride of the trip! and jeann and pi's 1st EVER!) and headed off to suan lum night bazaar to meet genevieve and her friend for dinner!

great dinner and a little bit of shopping before we called it a night and headed back. a note about suan lum - its kinda like chatuchak, but less crowded and much more roomy in terms of walking space. stuff they sell there tend to be a little more eclectic as well!

at 2+am, pi and jeann went to the flower market which only opens at 3am. jinn and i were too tired to go along, so we stayed back at the hotel. pictures of the flowers are from jeann's camera.. beautiful flowers and lovely colours!

shanghai was FUN*
coldcold sub-zero temperature, the freezing wind brushing across my face and numbing all my senses, snuggling up against the boy, spending quality time with the family, food food and more food.. am definitely looking forward to spending my next year there!

it has been a whirlwind of events since i got back on tuesday.

tour de f4 @ bangkok 6th-11th dec 2005

day 1 (tuesday)

met jeann and pi bright and early in the morning for our virgin air asia flight.
free-seating on the flight, so we made sure that we were first in the Q in order to get the front row seats (so that we can stretch our very long legs)! arrived in bangkok to a f3 sign that junjun had made for us! so sweet of her! then it was off to the twin towers hotel.

mandatory first stop - dunkin donuts! strawberry filled munchkins and double-choc donuts.. yumyumyum! lunch was at mbk foodcourt where we had the famous beef noodles. stuffed ourselves silly with all sorts of dessert like red ruby, brownie crepe and the most delightful combination ever.. durian and banana drizzled with coconut cream! heavenly but uber sinful! it is the ultimate guilt trip! we discoveredc mister donut soon after, and promptly became mister donut converts. mister donut rocks!! the donuts are 9x better than those at dunkin! strawberry-filled bavarian , choc-nut and double-choc pons! mmm! sugar high and chocolate bliss*

took a pretty pink cab! the colour absolutely reminded me of barbie's pink beetle cabriolet.. the colours of the cabs in bangkok are super bright and cute.. red, orange, green etc. how very appealing indeed! after walking around mbk and siam square, we climbed up an overhead bridge for some photos with the pretty bright lights.

had thai for dinner in a 70s themed cafe. papaya salad with honey-grilled pork, tomyum gung, pad thai wrapped in omelette, and singha beer! during dinner, jeann, being her usual voyeur self took this pict of junjun and i.. its freakin hilarious! why does junjun look so annoyed with me?! funch <3 gwumps muchmuchmuch!

went back to the hotel to freshen up and change before we headed to bedsupperclub to chill! pi and i tried some coffe cocktail which was laden with kahlua, tia maria and all sorts of coffee liquer. it was awful! round of cherry bombs after was amazing.. vodka straight up laced with cherry-flavoured mint and topped with a cherry each. mmm.. best shots ever!

day 2 (wednesday)

spent the next afternoon at baiyoke tower2 where jeann, pi and junjun went crazy with graphic tees. overwhelming! the shops there are more trendy, and we spotted some very nice deco like this absolutely cheery rainbow facade on the front of a toyshop! junjun and i were mucking around with the neopet collectibles while pi and jeann were lolling in the shop.

random snippets of the afternoon at baiyoke. at a very chill graphics tee shop with a very nice way of displaying their designs.

we came across this shirt that junjun insists is very me. its quite apt really, cos omg and wtf are like the 2 most common expressions that i use. plus i am always laughing. hahaha!

had dinner at oishii mini steamboat and then walked around holiday inn hotel which had nice xmas deco. went back to the hotel for an early night cos junjun was having a bad hangover from the night before.

shanghai
in winter is very, very cold. do be prepared to bundle up with wool jumpers, scarves, and a warm jacket. it is easy to get around the city centre by line one on the subway. the subway is usually really crowded, so be prepared to shove your way through the crowd. for places that are off the city centre, there are plenty of cabs around. there are some cabs that are newer in appearance (e.g. the light blue ones 大众 or the yellow ones 强生), do try to take these as they tend to be cleaner.

i would recommend that you take a taxi, and state your destination as 外滩. if you visit the bund at night, do make sure that you have enough clothes on to keep you warm, because it is very much colder by the river.

nightlife

visit 上海新天地 at night. the cosy cluster of upmarket restaurants and pubs has been touted as the hottest new entertainment district at night. it is here that this city's former reputation for fusion, of east and west, old and new is recalled by the architecture of that has been preserved and reconstructed form olden time shanghai. take line one on the subway and stop at 黄披南路 subway station.

T8 at 新天地 is touted as one of the top 5o restaurants in the world. do give it a shot for a distinguished experience in ambience and dining.

shopping

winter is not exactly the best time to shop in shanghai, because clothings tend to be winter-wear. nevertheless, you might want to walk around the main shopping areas.

take line one and stop at 陕西南路 subway station. you will see 淮海路, which is the main shopping district. 襄阳市场 is along 淮海路, and this is where most of the tourists go for good bargains. be sure to BARGAIN as much as possible as the mark-up is generally very high.

scenic

for a taste of the traditional oriental architecture, visit 豫园. while you're there, make sure that you try the 小笼包 at 南翔楼. it is supposedly the best in shanghai.

food

the best thing to eat during dinner is 火锅. walk along the streets and you should be able to find a 火锅 restaurant. if you are looking for fine shanghainese cuisine, visit 海上阿叔 at the westin hotel, or 上海人家 at 90陕西南路 (they have a chain of restaurants across the city). also, japanese dinner buffets are really good value for money. you can try kissho japanese restaurant at 135 建国西路.

if you are up for some fine dining with a great view, try m on the bund at the 7th floor of no.5 the bund. m on the bund combines outstanding service, a lovely interior, great food, an excellent wine list - plus stunning views of the bund and pudong's dazzling skyline.

and so, the countdown begins once again.
21 days to the finals, and 28 days to freedom.

i still cant quite get over how fast this semester seems to have gone by.. first paper on the 19th, and last on the 25th. tentatively off to hongkong with mom on the 26th to include my name in the parents' back account now that i'm 21. other plans involving the boy and the gals still remain in-the-making, and hopefully, they will materialise.

bright lights, big city.
i can hardly wait for january 2006, where i can embark on my pseudo-new life in shanghai as a bona fide big city dweller. im definitely looking forward to spending the next one-year in this distinctly unique oriental cosmopolitan city where east meets west. many people have asked me why shanghai? i absolutely adore shanghai. dad has been living in shanghai for the past 7 years, and through all this time, i have come to appreciate the beauty of orientalism, and it makes me very, very proud to be of chinese heritage.

shanghai is definitely worthy of all the hype that surrounds this gem of a city in recent times. the bustling streets, the party scene, the never-ending skyscrapers, the beautiful night scene, the delectable cuisine, the shopping, the beautiful architecture, the abundance of opportunties, the old juxtaposed with the new, and the prospect of discovering something new each day.. shanghai really is a city that has everything to offer.

the boy too, will be embarking on his own adventure to belfast, ireland. i do not know what ireland has to offer other than booze and rabbit stew, but here is what i found. and it does look pretty amazing afterall.

it does seem that cathedrals and castles are aplenty in ireland. i would think that its probably an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.. to immerse in the relatively slow pace of life, and to soak in the beauty and tranquility of postcard-perfect scenery. i do hope that he enjoys his time there to the fullest, and experiences all the different things that he never has before.

i initially had plans to join the boy in summer after his exchange semester to tour europe. its indeed a pity that i wont be able to anymore!

i have not been to europe thus far, but im sure that i would have loved to visit the fountain de trevi in rome, to run through the never-ending fields of lavender in provence, to walk down the arc-de-triomphe in paris, to pose with the leaning tower of pisa in that mandatory way, to row down the river in a venitian gondolla with the fiery sunset in the background, to be awestruck by the beauty of st.peter's, to visit yet another fountain - fountain dei fluimi, to stroll through the garden of avranches, to marvel at the architecture of the sagrada familia of spain, to bask in the sights and colours of the mediterrenean, to gasp at the dome-shaped churches of moscow, and to visit the quaint fishing villages of scandinavia.

and of course, im sure that i would have loved gucci too. unfortunately, plans to visit the gucci outlets in italy have to be shelved for the moment. not to fret though, since the boyfriend is intending to make that pilgrimage to the motherland on my behalf (well, not so much on my behalf, but more so because of his obsession with zegna).

today when i received my macroeconomics midterm script, a feeling of anger and disappointment swept over me as the realisation that i had failed sank in. i was so upest with myself.. as i silently berated myself with profanities, i found out from the score statistics that i was still quite substantially above the average!

YAY! happiness! my grade is not that bad afterall! haha its amazing how the average is way below the passing grade!

anyways, sleepover at pi's last friday was the perfect end to the week!

first up.. smackalicious* dinner cooked by jeann and pi! these 2 girls are really amazing in the kitchen! mmmm!

trimmed my fringe over pi's sink in the afternoon when we woke up.. somehow i feel that there's a striking resemblance to emily the strange..

like it always does, the sun shines after the rain, and the rainbow comes out to play. home cooked dinner and movie date topped off with a slumber party* at pi's place tomorrow.. a perfect end to a bad week all thanks to my girls.

on another note, here are some runway picts from a new luggage-inspired tote from prada!

bright, shiny, fuschia crocodile leather on a small trolley bag. im not quite sure if its supposed to be an absurdly small luggage or a large, impractical purse. but its definitely loud, frivolous, ridiculously expensive, lacking in practical applications, and most importantly.. uber adorable! i do like it very, very much indeed.

on the topic of bags, this is currently number 1 on my list of favourite bags. its been spotted on the arms of jessica simpson, nicole ritchie, kiera knightly, hillary duff and the likes.. and its definitely on the wish list of more people than you or i possibly know! yummy* we saw it while i was back in korea and mom was swooning over it.. thank goodness mom shares the same sentiment as me, so that means a higher possibility of getting my hands on it!

in my opinion, the spy bag from fendi is quite possibly the trendiest slouchy bag of all time. absolutely love the dark-brown and hunter-green, and the unique braided leather clutch handles just add that touch of class characteristic of fendi. oh! and for the love of it , the interior is made of classic zucca jacqaurd lining. . simply divine*

here i am once again, as emptiness comes crashing in upon me.

reality sinks in with a dull thud. as much as i try to pick myself up from this misery, i feel myself falling deeper and deeper into the never-ending depths of darkness. i watch helpless as my world crumbles around me, leaving me bare, stark naked and defenceless. its moments like these.. bouts of melancholy.. feelings of loneliness.. the familiarity of destitute knocking on my door.. a sinking hollowness within my empty core.. the dull ache in the depths of my heart.. the growing resent inside of me.. the energy sapping away slowly, but surely nonetheless.. its sad to say that nothing means the same to me anymore. promises are words seemingly bound up with the endlessness of hopes and dreams, but alas, like all other words, they come and go with the slightest wind, leaving you with a parting gift of disappointment..

after a busy week at school, i finally found the time to sort out my birthday pictures. had a lovely dinner at pierside kitchen and bar @ one fullerton on saturday night. would like to say thank you to all of them gals who made the night so much fun!

thank u jeann braveheart, huiwen applegirl and jinn mousie for surprising me with the balloons and the lovely awfully chocolate cake at holland v on my birthday itself. despite the expression on my face, i was really pleasantly shocked and very, very happy. i appreciate your effort so much!

2 of the most important people in my life. one of them - my mouse, and the other - my wabbit. words cannot express just how much you both mean to me. thank you so much for loving me the way that you do, and thank you so much for making me the person that i am.

celebrated my 21st birthday a week ago. we went to the town restaurant at fullerton hotel. great food, lovely ambience, and a nice, quiet time with loved ones made for a wonderful night.

my mom and i. she is the best person in the world. i am so thankful for every little thing that she has done for me for the past 21 years.

kenn and i. i could not ask for any one else who would love me the way he does. i count my blessings to have someone like him in my life.

friday night saw us gals triapsing down to town. skipped my 4pm lecture (very willingly) to accompany dear mouse on the bus to town.. us 2 girls were feeling terribly hungry, so we snacked on some pastries from sun moulin, and then had coffee at starbucks, which was followed by dinner at pepper lunch after the rest of the gals came down. then there was yami yoghurt (medium serve for me, no less), and we proceeded to the new japanese restaurant at wheelock place called sun moon which had an awfully pretty zen interior. so after much deliberation over the menu, we ordered some desserts - the tofu cheesecake and green tea mousse were super yummy! so after a fulfilling dessert session, we went on to catch the movie red eye which left us all feeling so short-changed for 9 bucks! the movie lasted for only 1 and a half hours max!
this week is a rather stressful week for me.. assignment datelines to be met, and my 2nd noc interview! was really glad to be shortlisted for the 2nd round, but am feeling really jittery about it at the same time.. wish me luck u all!

my miracle*

its been great since i got back.. seeing all my crazy beautiful friends after 2 months is just so heartwarming! last thursday night saw us at gotham penthouse cos our dearest chia was in the sports pageant! chia was by far the best for the dance section, and i've never seen her look any better! HOTHOTHOT! although she didn't get into the finals, we are all very proud of her! didnt bring my camera so i haven't got any pictures of her.. so kindly hop over to jinn's!

all of us were there to support her!

jinn, may, carol, melody and i formed the winning team! all of us were dressed in one of the winning colours each - red, blue, yellow, green and purple and we won preview tickets to this movie called the cave!

its the end of my 2 months here in seoul.. and i have really enjoyed every single minute of it! i am definitely gonna miss so many things here.. my wonderful friends.. the great food.. the nice cool weather.. my cosy apartment.. and the super good shopping! seoul really is a city that never sleeps.. i had so much fun over here!

being away from home these past two months has definitely been an experience in itself. i am glad that i took this one step out of my comfort zone to experience independence in the truest sense of the word, to experience the world, to experience the feeling of missing home.. for i have truly learnt to appreciate the many things that i seem to have taken for granted. being alone, i have had alot of time to myself to think and reflect about things that i have never really thought about before. i somehow find that through it all, i have grown and matured in a way that i can't quite put a finger to as yet. and yet my perspectives have changed tremendously. turning 21 in less than a months' time, it scares me to think that one day, very near in the future, i will be looking back in time, reminiscing my 21st.. i still find it surreal that 20 years have gone by in a blurry.. when i look at the pictures of my parents in their younger days, i cannot help but wonder.. did they envision the day when their 20 year old daughter would be looking at themselves in the prime of their youth? it scares me so, how fast time seems to be passing us by.. i am not quite sure that i am ready for this. i am not ready to grow up yet. but i know, that one day, i will have to. and i will. the future will bring it many truths that will have to be confronted, many obstacles that will have to be overcome, and many lessons that will have to learnt.

highlight of the week.. food!

kenn left this morning at 6am.. the feeling of loneliness is slowly creeping up on me.. after having been almost unseparable for the last 2+ weeks.. what can i say, time really passes by quickly! albeit too quickly though.. but then again, it also means that i will be back home enjoying the comforts of familiarity in no time!

shanghai over the weekend was, as always, enjoyable. shopping and dining was crazy, but weather was a tad too unbearable. we were warmly greeted by a rush of heat the moment we stepped out of the airport building.. this time round, to save daddy the trouble of the 1-hour drive to pick us up, we took the magnetic levitation train which is the first of its kind in the world.. have always wanted to give it a go ever since it started its operation a few years back, but never got the chance to.. the train ride was amazing.. reached a highest speed of 431km/hour midway, and the entire ride of 40 km was over in <7 minutes!

on the first night, daddy brought us for dinner at this really famous shanghainese restaurant at the westin hotel.. we usually reserve a room only when we are having dinner with daddy's clients.. so this time, it was special cos daddy reserved a room just for the 4 of us! it was really nice and cosy.. the walls were painted deep red, and the chairs were draped with elaborate baroque upholstery.. very, very nice interior.. we had a personal waiter to serve us even though it was just the 4 of us.. in shanghai, there is a minimun spending just to dine in a room! we had so much to eat.. and the food was really good... simply delectable*

on the second night, we had japanese for dinner! a must on every visit to shanghai! we ordered so much food that we were all so full! daddy always orders sea urchin (which i totally detest).. i usually don't touch it all.. but i ate a teeny bit this time round because daddy says that it is anti-cancerious.. but of course, i drowned it in so much wasabi so that i wouldn't be able to taste it! i really don't understand how the japanese can be willing to pay so much to eat something like that! daddy bought this freakin big bottle of sake that cost more than our dinner itself! it is apparently like the sake equivalent of johnny walker red label..

we went to everland today! everland is a theme park about an hour's drive away from seoul city.. it kinda reminds me of disneyland! makes me wanna go back there sometime soon! our first ride was on the suspended roller coaster! i haven't gotten such an adreline rush since a really long time ago.. so i was a little teeny bit scared! but it was really a whole lotta fun in the end! emerged from it a little bit hoarse after screaming into the boyfriend's ear throughout the 2 minutes! on another note, i somehow find it amazing how a theme park never fails to lift your spirits up.. for that one afternoon that you spend on all those rides, it seems as though nothing else matters except how much fun you are having.. and seeing all the smiles of joy on the faces of happy children running around.. it really is such great place to be at! we also chanced upon a petting zoo before leaving.. and i picked up a live starfish for the first time in my life! starfishes are really pretty.. and they feel soft and mushy.. rather nice to touch! :) oh and of cos there were the chicks! so darn cute they are! hmm.. kenn and i haven't been to a place with a really famous roller coaster ride before.. something to look forward to next time i guess! anyways.. will be leaving for shanghai this weekend! a shopping weekend! :)

'twas a lazy sunday today.. the weather these few days has been crazy.. so hot and humid! so since there wasn't much food left in the refrigerator (that is totally unacceptable by me since i live to eat), we decided that it was time to go grocery shopping! so we went to carrefour at the seoul world cup stadium and coincidentally, there was a soccer match going on! the tottenham hot spurs from england was playing.. we ended up buying so much that we spent almost $80 on all our groceries!

kenn woke up at 6+ yesterday evening (?!).. so we went out for dinner and had ginseng chicken soup! and then we bought a 32cm tall soft cone ice cream for only $1.60! mmmm! :) on the way back, we bought a pineapple by the roadside just for the fun of it.. and when we got back to the apartment, we tried to cut it up! it was our first time cutting up a pineapple! turned out not too bad in the end.. so after we finished with the pineapple, jay came to pick us up to go get a drink.. we went to the area around hongik university where all the bars and clubs are.. very chill place.. and loadsa young people around.. so the guys ordered a 3 litre jug of beer which was freakin big! i had a cosmpolitan which had so much vodka in it.. it made my face damn red after!

kenn and i wanted to have korean bbq beef for dinner, so jay and ryan decided that we should take an hour's drive to suwon city where there is a place which is apparently very famous for their bbq beef ribs.. dinner was really, really very good.. i have seriously never tasted better beef! after dinner we went for bingsu again! might be going to the beach tomorrow!

went to the rodeo street of seoul at apgujeong yesterday.. it is the area for the rich and famous of the city! apparently we were in the same lift as a really popular korean star, but kenn and i didnt even recognise him! this place is really amazing! i've never seen more brandnames housed on the same street! they even have dior and burberry couture for little kids! and the endless number of young kids driving by in their convertibles and suv s.. jay brought us to try the "king of bingsu" that cost 13,500 won (about 20+).. it came in a glass bowl that was big enough for about 7 fat goldfishes! bingsu is actually crushed ice topped with vanilla icecream and other fruit toppings.. u mix it all together and then u eat it.. it is so yummy! really, really good! after that, we caught the movie island starring ewan mcgregor and scarlett johansson.. the storyline is really original.. and the screenplay and visual effects was impressive.. all in all, i would give island "three-and-a-half popcorns"! met somemore friends after the movie and then we had dinner at this really posh chinese restaurant.. the food was quite authentic.. but way too over-priced i reckon.. cant wait to go to shanghai for a good chinese dinner! so after dinner, we went to korea's most prestigious and popular nightclub called club julianna.. how a nightclub works is that it is strictly by-reservation only.. not anybody can go into the club.. only the rich kids can afford to.. u have to reserve a table, booth or private room before u can enter.. a table costs US$300, a booth costs US$500 and a private room costs US$800 a night! one of my friends bought us a room... and we drank 2 bottles of scotch whiskey straight up! not to mention endless bottles of beer.. kenn and i really had a great time yesterday.. to experience how the rich kids in seoul live their lives..i really find myself so lucky to have made such nice korean friends over here! :)

the boy is coming over tomorrow! i am so excited! this afternoon was spent at coffee bean at myeong dong.. my goodness i have never seen a bigger coffee bean outlet in my life! it is 2 stories high, and each story is about half the size of a field.. it is that big, and it was so crowded i had to queue to pick up my cuppa! after reading a chapter out of my textbook, i ventured on to more important things.. make up! haha.. i have only this to say: if you want make up, come to seoul! the cosmetic shops here are so amazing.. everybody just keeps stuffing you with samples! being the sucker for samples that i am (like who isn't!), i had such a good time! oh and not to mention that you can literally test every single product that they sell.. i spent 20 minutes at the nailpolish bar just painting and re-painting my nails till i found a colour i fancied.. and i didnt just stop at that..! i tried on blue/green/pink/purple eyeshadow just for the fun of it.. volumising/lengthening/curling mascara.. shimmery/matte/bronzing blusher.. foundation..lipgloss.. fragrance.. everything! i was so reminded of how i used to play with my mom's make up when i was just a little girl.. pure unadulterated fun! bliss*

my korean friends brought me for a traditional korean lunch yesterday.. there was so much to eat! then we went to this huge underground mall called coex to catch war of the worlds.. the movie wasnt as good as i had expected though.. but dakota fanning is so darn good in her acting! she is no doubt the best child actress around! so after the movie, we took a one and a half hour drive to incheon city which is just a little off seoul city to watch the soccer match.. the soccer match was actually part of this annual soccer tournament called the peace cup.. many of the korean football stars were there! and the world cup stadium is just so amazing.. it is located in front of a mountain, so the view from the stands is so beautiful! apparently the korea univ students are really well-known for cheering.. and it is so true indeed! the atmosphere was so good cos everybody was standing up throughout the game! the crowd was so lively.. it was so much fun!

wore my anna sui hairclip as a necklace today! had lunch with my korean friends after class.. and i had bibimbap AGAIN! haha! anyways, there is a huge soccer match tomorrow evening at the world cup stadium! its between korea univ and this uefa championship league team called psv from the netherlands! they told me that guus hiddink is the coach for this team! we all have to wear a korea univ tee! although im not really into soccer, the guys insisted on going.. so we got our tickets today..! there are no classes tomorrow, so we are going to catch a movie before the match too.. should be fun!! :)

these are my new slingback leather heels! they are turquoise in colour with baby-blue snake-skin trimming.. the colours are so sweet! oh and there is a quaint little anna sui boutique near my place! the decoration in the shop is so nice and dainty! i got this anna sui signature butterfly swarovski crystal hairclip as well as a glittery plastic necklace that reads 'Anna Sui'.. it is decorated with colourful swarovski crystals! its super nice and pretty!
anyways.. i miss my boy! i had lunch with my korean schoolmates today.. they bought me bibimbap! so nice of them!

this is how my apartment looks like! its a studio apartment in downtown seoul, and it is really near to the major shopping districts!

this is the area where im staying at.. its called myeong dong, and its a place where the young people like to shop! it is really lively at night, and there is lotsa good food here too!

i haven't got classes on wednesdays, so today i went out to do some shopping! i went to dongdaemun and i bought 2 tops and 2 skirts! the clothes here are nice, but they are not very cheap.. i went to get some lipgloss from this korean brand called laneige that is apparently really popular, and i ended up getting so much more freebies..! :)

today was my first day of classes! this is how the seminar rooms in the business school look like! very impressive! the professor for one of my modules allowed us to choose between a term paper and a final exam.. like DUH! of cos we chose the term paper! wah shiok! damn slack!

this is what i had for lunch somewhere near my apartment! fusion sushi! they put philadephia cream cheese together with salmon sashimi and it tasted so good! it started drizzling in the evening and the temperature dipped to about 21 degrees.. it is actually summer now, but yet its still so cooling at times! i had beef and seafood shabu-shabu for dinner! the beef in korea is definitely the best that i have ever tried! went to lotte mart which is a huge supermarket! there was lotsa food-tasting in there!

went to korea university today to register for classes. i am taking comparative asian economies as well as international trade and finance. the campus is so beautiful!

this is the LG-Posco school of business where i will be going for classes! it is brand new! the central square is really really nice too!

on the way to school, i stopped at dongdaemun stadium to take a peek at what its like.. it is one of the major shopping districts in seoul! omg it is so amazing! i wouldn't say prices are very cheap, but it is deifinitely cheaper compared to back home and the stuff they sell is really trendy! i cant wait to go on a shopping
spree! :) :) :) i also passed by a patisserie and the cakes looked so good!

at night i had ginseng chicken soup for dinner! it wass really good! and then after that, i bought my second box of krispy kremes! hahaha!! happiness!

today was my first day in seoul city!

this is what was for dinner! beef spicy stew pot! the beef was so pink and tender! oh i love kimchi! had 2 bowls of it all by myself! and then there was krispy kremes for dessert! omg i almost went crazy when i saw a krispy kreme shop! they were giving away original glazed donuts for FREE! :) :) :) this is the night scene at one of the trendier districts called sinchon! there are lotsa universities around this area so most of the people here are really fashionable! my apartment lies on this green train line! there are a freakin 9 train lines in seoul itself.. and it gets really confusing cos of all the korean names!

dinner last night at the line was simply amazing! the night was studded with delectable, dainty little desserts.. and it was more than enough to give us gals a sugar-high for the rest of the night! not to mention the great, great company! nothing short of a wonderful, wonderful night out*

as always... fabfour! huiwen the little chinadoll with her absolutely gorgeous one-in-a-kind necklace that i sooo adore!! she looked so nice in her get up! as i say, green is the new black!

with junjun timberlake, shakun, and may..! or rather.. s&m!

junjun the sweetest little mousie i could ever ask for was looking fab as ever! ilu!! me trying on melody's super cool silver-tinted aviators! i want aviators!

all of us gals at cocolatte..! the interior of cocolatte is really nice and electic.. but the crowd just didnt do for me.. zouk still rocks!! with kunies and may!

with melody, chong and chia! melody was wearing nice earrings! and chia had a big cross necklace that was all nice and glittery! with chia again.. spread the love! the greatest bunch of gals ever! :) :)

5 more days of private banking (which i totally enjoy!) before my internship comes to an end.. as the countdown begins, its 6 more days before i leave! am starting to feel the anticipation building up.. i am definitely gonna miss the gals and all the fabfour outings that are always so much funfunfun! come and visit!

:) the four of us were at the gala premiere of initial d at lido last night! EDISON CHEN my all time favourite was there along with JAY CHOU and SHAUN YUE! so pretty darn cute edison is! what a rare sight to see 3 hot guys on stage at the same time!

i love junjun! oh and shan was there too! shan is super tall and good-looking in real life!

going to the movies was never such a blast.. the movie itself was not too bad.. the racing bits were simply awesome! i simply love the low purr of a race car accelerating!

mom and dad at a wedding dinner! we attended one of daddy's staff's daughter's wedding dinner.. his staff was so happy and honoured that we were all there and she kept thanking us on stage! and daddy's staff all say that daddy is such a good boss! :)

all in all, i bought about 10000 heels, skirts, tops, tees, dresses, accessories.. i am a full-fledged SHOPAHOLIC and proud to be one!

as of now, i have been to shanghai 8 times.. i am absolutely in love with shanghai! i am going back there again sometime in july! :)

the fabfour, looking nothing short of fabulous, as usual.

house of wax on tuesday was hahaha, well, pretty freakin lousy i must say. poor huiwen, who cried during the gory scenes, and was looking everywhere except at the screen during the movie. the brave mouse was so.. err.. brave! she watched the show so noncalantly!

zouk last night was highly entertaining. GO jeann! you are da best for standing up for your frens like that! huiwen looked so cute in her striped adidas top and superstars, while kunies was definitely the energiser bunny of the night! haha at least noone rolled down the staircase of disappeared under the table eh kunies? mouse! i love your charm bracelet and your black clutch! who was the one who got them for you ah? haha love u muchmuch as always! after zouk saw us at a rather shady looking teochew porridge place. haha it was filthy! nonetheless, a great night out otherwise, but i reckon it now seems like zouk is getting rather unappealing, what with all the angsty, fight-picking gals on the dancefloor, and the lousylousy muscic! jeann! steamboat at your place next wednesday! :)

escapism is sweet. sadly, it is but an illusion for now. how i wish it were a viable alternative to this mundane routinized ritualistc regime that i have gotten so accustomed to. and yet, i still feel so trapped. these days, there is nothing to look forward to. everyday, i just busy myself in a pile of work, this-and-that, and everything else that i loathe. i feel myself degenerating spiritually. i feel myself falling further and further into the depths. such that one day i will never be able to find myself again. i have no motivation whatsoever. there is simply no meaning in all these everyday routines. i hate it. i hate it when i have no choice but to coerce myself to be a mere slave to this unrealistically meritocratic society. u say parity and equal opportunities for all, u say do something different and break out of the mould.. i say fuck you. so much for the elimination of elitism. the whole fucking world revolves around elitism. nothing else matters except how fucking well u do in school. what the hell happened to expression of freedom, creativity, liberalisation. its all but mere words. and we all know, actions speaks louder than words. oh.. yes.. they do.
